This case study will follow the journey of a 58-year-old woman (JD) who was getting very frustrated and experiencing feelings of depression associated with her colostomy. She was keen to learn colostomy irrigation to allow herself to regain control of her bowel habits which she hoped would improve other areas in her life. The process of learning how to irrigate the colostomy, and the challenges faced, are examined in this case study.en
